Hierarchy of the Poor Patient Assistance Cell is as under: -

A. About Poor Patient Welfare Fund (PPWF)
Poor Patient Welfare Fund, PGIMER, receives donations under Poor Patients Welfare Fund (PPWF). This donation is eligible for deduction under sub clause iii (f) of section 80G (2) of the Income Tax Act.
This fund is being used to help the patients who are unable to afford treatment. The donations are received from Philanthropists, Judicial Orders, Corporate Social Responsibility obligations, NGO & Trust etc. The donation is received Online & Offline.
B. Procedure for getting treatment under Poor Free Category
As per PGI policy the patients possessing Below Poverty Line Ration Card/Certificate or Antyodaya Anna Yojna (AAY) as per National Food Security Act (NFSA) are directly declared Poor Free by the Medical Record Department.
The patients who are admitted and not possessing the BPL Card/ Certificate may be recommended for poor free treatment by the concerned Professor/Unit Head/HOD to the Medical Superintendent, PGIMER for approval by assessment (The Form is available at the PPWF office).
C. Assistance through PPWF for admitted patients under poor free category
As per PGI policy, patient is admitted under poor free category and all investigations, admission charges including diet charges are waived off. The items available in Surgical Store and Pharmacy are provided free of cost. Items which are not provided by Pharmacy & Surgical Store are purchased through Poor Patient Welfare Fund as per PGI Policy.
D. Procedure for assistance through PPWF
- The Office remains open from 9:30 AM to 5 PM on Monday to Friday and on Saturday 9:30 AM to 2 PM.
- Concerned treating doctor fills the prescribed form and this duly stamped form recommended and forwarded by concerned Unit Incharge/H.O.D.
- Complete form is submitted at Poor Patient Assistance Cell along with copy of valid poor free status.
- Form screened by concerned Medical Social Welfare Officer.
- Form forwarded to competent authority through Officer Incharge Poor Patient Welfare Fund
E. What kind of Treatment & Procedure is covered under PPWF?
Financial Assistance is provided to Poor Patients for all the life threatening treatments like Cancer, Cardio, Medicine, Hematology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Surgery, Kidney Transplant, Liver Transplant & BMT etc.
