Dr Varun Singla, Asstt Professor, Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive care, received prestigious "Pain Ambassador Award" at the International Conference on Recent Advances in Pain (ICRA-PAIN) 2024 held from 8-10th March 2024 at Kolkata.

 

Dr. Vishal Kumar,  Additional Professor of Orthopaedics at PGIMER, Chandigarh was awarded the prestigious "Association of Spine Surgeons of India (ASSI) Travelling Fellowship, 2023-24 in which he received three weeks of training at centres of excellence for spinal surgeries across the country.

Dr Somya Saxena Associate Professor in the Department of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine has been awarded First Prize in the Best Poster Presentation Category in Global Assistive Technology Expo and Conference (GATEC 2023)

Dr. Vishal Kumar, Additional Professor of Orthopaedics at PGIMER, Chandigarh was awarded the prestigious International AO Spine Fellowship,2023 in which he received two weeks of training at University Spine Centre, National University Hospital Singapore. 

Dr. Vishal Kumar, Additional Professor of Orthopaedics at PGIMER, Chandigarh was conferred upon the prestigious "Silver Jubilee Oration" of IOACON, 2023 by Indian Orthopaedics Association in recognition of his scientific achievements, contribution to education and expansion of scientific knowledge.

He got this award for his innovation of "Modular Lumbar Plate" which has been filed for grant of patent in The Indian Patent Office, New Delhi.

Dr Naresh Sachdeva, Additional Professor, Department of Endocrinology was awarded the Gold Medal and the Chellaram Foundation Diabetes Research Award 2019, at the 3rd International Diabetes Summit held at Pune, India, 8-10 March, 2019, for his group's work entitled "Induction of colonic regulatory T cells by sodium butyrate: a therapeutic approach for amelioration of type 1 diabetes."

 

1.   Dr. Bharti Sharma, Consultant, WHO-NBBP Project (Newborn Birth defects) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has been awarded the second prize for poster titled, "Classifying still birth in a tertiary care hospital of Northern India-ICD-PM versus simplified CODAC" at the Obstetric Medicine Update-2018 on 1st and 2nd December 2018 at Hyderabad. The honor was decided and bestowed upon by Dr. Jason Gardosi (Director, Perinatal Institute UK) who himself authorized ICD PM classification for perinatal deaths. This work is being do tr. in PGIMER Chandigarh under supervision of Dr.Neelam Aggarwal and Dr. Vanita Suri".

Puri, Prof. & Head, Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care received “FICCI Healthcare Excellence Awards” under Patient Safety category on behalf of PGIMER, Chandigarh for his innovation ‘IV Alert’ on 17th Aug, 2017 in New Delhi, India. The award was given by Ms Supriya Patel, Union State Health Minister and Dr. Soumaya Swaminathan, DG ICMR.  An MoU regarding transfer of technology of this innovation i.e., ‘IV Alert’ has already been signed (on 11.10.2017) between PGIMER, Chandigarh & Clarity Medical Private Limited.

Mr. Arvind Jindal, OT Assistant, in the Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care has been awarded First prize in the poster presentation (“Evaluation of IV Alert”), 2nd International Conference on Bridging Innovations in Pharmaceuticals, Medical and Bio Sciences (INNOPHARMA 2) being organized by Paramita Health Care Society in association with Innovare Academics Sciences, M.P. Council of Science Technology, Vigyan Bhavan, held at Nehru Nagar, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India, during February 11-12, 2017. The aforesaid noble device is purely an indigenous device invented by Dr. G.D. Puri, Professor & Head, Anaesthesia & Intensive Care and all the in vitro testings were done in his supervision in the Institute.

6   Dr Jitendra Kumar Sahu, Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics was awarded Sheila Wallace Award 2016 by the International Child Neurology Association at Amsterdam, Netherlands. The great honour is in recognition of highly significant research contribution to child neurology from developing countries as a young child neurologist. He also presented the plenary award lecture.

Dr Bhadada, earlier received prestigious P. N. Shah Oration  and  AR Seth Award from Endocrine Society of India  for  his work on primary hyperparathyroidism.

Dr. Anand’s research work has focused on cell disruption mechanisms in brain diseases using unique animal models, with focus on Ocular Neurobiology

Dr Ritesh Agarwal has been awarded the ICMR Shakuntala Amir Chand Prize for the year 2012, for his significant contributions in the field of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA). This prize is awarded for the best published research work in the field ofbiomedical science including clinical research.

Late Prof. Dheeraj Gupta has won Amrut Mody Unichem Award for the year 2011 for his significant contributions in the field of pulmonary medicine. He was a clinician and researcher par excellence. He had several awards and fellowships to his credit. He had recently been conferred with an honorary fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians of London.

10   Prof. Deepak Bansal has been awarded the ‘Dr H B Dingley memorial award’, for the outstanding contribution in the field of Paediatrics. Prof. Bansal’s specializes in diseases of blood and cancer in children.
9   Prof. Surjit Singh won ICMR Chaturvedi Kalawati Jagmohan Das Memorial Award 2011. This award pertains to his work on Kawasaki Disease (KD) which is now recognized as the commonest cause of acquired heart disease amongst children in Japan, North America and Europe.
8   Dr. Aruna Rakha, DST Inspire Faculty, Deptt of  Translational and Regenerative Medicine has received Young Investigator Award in International Conference (World Congress of Nephrology) held in March 2015 at Cape Town
 7   President Pranab Mukherjee presented Padma Shri to Prof. Amod Gupta, Dean PGIMER and Head, Department of Ophthalmology, PGIMER on 26th April, 2014 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi during Padma Awards 2014 distribution ceremony.
 6   Prof Jagat Ram received the Most Prestigious "Best of the Best Award" in the New Surgical Technique Category at the conference. This is the highest honor which any Ophthalmologist can achieve in the world.
 5   Prof. Sanjeev Handa, Head of the Department was awarded the prestigious Prof. L.K. Bhutani award for his contribution in teaching and research in the field of Dermatology. This award is named after late Prof. LK Bhutani, Ex Director of AIIMS, New Delhi.
 4   Dr. K. K. Prasad, Additional Professor, Department of Gastroenterology awarded the “Best Faculty Poster Session Award – 2015” in International CME in Pathology – Histopathology and Cytopathology at Goa in Feb 2015
 3   Dr Akshay Anand, Additional Professor, Neuroscience Research Lab, PGIMER and Editor in Chief of Annals of Neurosciences has been selected for the prestigious 9th International Sardar Patel life time achievement award for excellence in Biological Sciences.This will be awarded in January 2015. His research group has focussed on cell disruption mechanisms in brain diseases using sophisticated models. The award is given to those whose work results in development of country in respective field and advancement of scientific temper.

Seven doctors and scientists of the Mycology Division from the Department of Medical Microbiology of PGIMER, Chandigarh got awards at the 9th National conference of Society for Indian Human and Animal Mycologists at Siliguri (West Bengal). 

  • Dr Pratibha Kale, a junior resident received prestigious G.P. Agarwal young scientist award for  her work on fungal rhinosinusitis, which is prevalent in agricultural workers of this country.

  • Mr. Prasanna Honnavar, PhD student received the prestigious Kamalam Glaxo award for his work on seborrhoeic dermatitis, a disease highly prevalent in Indian population.  

  • Mr. Hansraj Choudhary, a technologist received the second best poster prize among all doctors and senior scientists. 

  • Dr Anup Ghosh (Assistant Professor) and Mr. Kapil Mukesh (research fellow) shared the 3rd best poster award between them. 

  • Dr Lakshmi Sree, a junior resident received the Mycology Quiz award. 

  • Dr Gagandeep Singh, a pool officer, received the Dr Padhye travel award.

  • Dr. Naveen Kalra, Additional Professor received Onco-imaging award of the Indian College of Radiology and Imaging for his research on the role of Radio-frequency ablation in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.  

  • Dr. Manphool Singhal, Assistant Professor received prize for his poster presentation titled 'Unusual causes of hemoptysis: imaging and interventions'. 

  • Dr. J. Satheesh Krishna, Junior Resident was awarded first prize for his work on 'MR enterography' in the diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis in the competition paper category. Dr. Guru Prasadh Senior resident has been conferred with Dr.N.Ram Dass award. Dr. Chirag K Ahuja, Senior Resident (Neuroradiology) and Dr. Priyanka, Junior resident also received prizes and certificates of merit in their respective poster presentations.

Mrs Mrinalini Sharma, a Ph.D. student from the department bagged the third young scientist award for her work on "Adenoviral load in myocardial tissue of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy" which elucidated the viral cause behind myocarditis and dilated cardiomyopathy patients.

Rana, Professor, Chief of Clinical Biochemistry, Department of Gastroenterology, PGIMER has been awarded for Poster Presentation titled "Anti-tubercular treatment induced hepatotoxicity in North Indians: Role of Glutathione-S-transferase, N-acetyl transferase-2 and Cytochrome P4502E1 gene polymorphisms". This award has been presented to her in 20th Annual Conference of INASL held at Guwahati . This study indicates that acetylator status and GSTM1 polymorphism can diagnose the patients in our population who are prone to Anti-tubercular treatment induced hepatotoxicity so that the treatment can be started accordingly.

Professor Jagat Ram of Advanced Eye Centre, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh won prestigious International awards in a recently concluded European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS) Conference held at Milan, Italy from September 6-12, 2012. Professor Jagat Ram won this award in the category of Special challenging cases where most innovative and new surgical technique has been performed for the first time anywhere in the world.

Dr Jaspreet Sukhija, Assistant Professor, Advanced Eye Centre, PGI won two prestigious international awards at the recently concluded Annual Conference of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery held in Milan, Italy from 8th to 12th September. Ph.D. scholar Mr. Amit Agarwal was awarded for his research work at 113th International conference organized by American Thoracic Society in Philadelphia, USA held on 17th to 22nd May 2013. The chairman of Allergy, Immunology and Inflammation assembly, ATS presented him the Abstract Scholarship Award. The abstract was based on his research of "Role of Th17 and Tregs in Indian pediatric patients with allergic asthma".  The research had shown that there is imbalance between Th17 and Tregs cells in patients with allergic asthma. The levels of Th17 are inversely correlated with Tregs cells in these patients. He was the only participant who received this award.

Prof. Pratibha Singhi has been awarded the first Dr.S.Janaki Memorial Oration -2013 by the National Academy of Medical Sciences for recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of neurological disorders of the pediatric-adolescent age group. She has done extensive clinical and research work in the field of pediatric neurology particularly CNS infections such as Neurocysticercosis and meningitis, neurodevelopmental disorders particularly cerebral palsy and autism, and childhood epilepsy

Dr Kim Vaiphei, Professor, Department of Histopathology, has been awarded the prestigious Dr R M Kasliwal Award for the year 2013 by the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India). The award has been given in recognition of her research papers in understanding development of colon and rectal cancers and the Fellowship she received from the International Union Against Cancer (UICC), Geneva in 2009 for her academic and research contributions in the same field. She will be delivering a talk in the upcoming 53rd Annual Conference of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India).

Dr Manish Rathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Nephrology, PGIMER has been awarded the "Best paper award" during the Asia Pacific League of Associations Against Rheumatology (APLAR) conference which was held in Bali, Indonesia. The research work was done on 'Histological Classification of ANCA associated glomerulonephritis and its impact on outcome'. The work was awarded with a certificate of "Best paper award" along with a prize of USD 1000.

Dr Manish Rathi has also been awarded membership of the prestigious society 'National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS)', which is an honour bestowed as an acknowledgement of his achievements in the field of nephrology

Prof. Kim Vaiphei, Department of Histopathology PGIMER has been elected as Fellow of the Academy by National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) for the year 2013.  She has been elected for her extensive contribution for the advancement in medical sciences with specialization in the field of pathology concerning gastroenterology related diseases.  Dr. Kim Vaiphei was also awarded recently the "Dr R M Kasliwal Award" by the same organization for her significant research contributions in colon and rectal diseases.

Dr. Sonu Goel, Assistant Professor of Health Management in School of Public Health has been bestowed with prestigious membership of National Academy of Medical Science. He had earlier received fellowships of Indian Public Health Association and International Medical Sciences Academy. He is also a fellow of John Hopkins School of Public Health, U.S. He had conducted around 20 research projects and published over 40 papers in indexed national and international journals. He has edited 2 post graduate level books, 6 booklets for public on general topics and contributed 20 chapters in various books. His prime areas of work are tobacco control, human resource in health and health system development.

Dr Jyotdeep Kaur, Additional Professor, Department of Biochemistry, PGIMER has been awarded the prestigious membership of 'National Academy of Medical Sciences (India)' for her distinguished research work. She has extensively studied the regulatory mechanisms of folate absorptions under conditions of alcoholism, folate deficiency and supplementation revealing the underlying molecular and epigenetic mechanisms and first time reported folate transporters' association with membrane lipid rafts.  Additionally, she has carried out work on genetic susceptibility and epigenetics of hepatocellular carcinoma.
